Good Friday, faded blue cotton cloudy sky...

the snow is still heaped high against black wood hedges, the clouds scud across blue sky birds chirp against the cold and spring tries to cheer the soul on this Good Friday. I went to Manchester textile fair a few weeks ago so thought this Easter day I would share with you some delicious samples of the bits I purchased. I enjoy the stacking of objects be it linens or china so have tried to create collages of fabrics piled high pillows of lusciousness ready to inspire. The child's dress are hand stitched with the most wonderful detail, french knots hand stitched edges and linen line buttons. Patches of colour and stains resemble age marks and paintings I am loathed to wash away the signs of age to me they are beautiful paintings telling a history. The objects I collect can be utilitarian, domestic the everyday world we inhabit. Old objects like enamel funnels are simple and beautiful their chips add detail and history.

winter whites and grey skies close the curtains and sit close ........

the weather outside is cold and snowy so  its time to sit by the fire and read. My scarf is wrapped tight to keep out winter chilly wind and a steaming cup of tea awaits by the fire. First I will let you see  close ups I took of deer in the garden when Spring almost appeared on the horizon. His cape is made of grey curly fur to help ward off the winter snow. Gold buttons fasten tight his ceramic body and give him a regal air.

I have had a weeks holiday In lovely Suffolk so feel refreshed ready for making new creatures. Fabrics and bits of pieces have been found whilst away and I shall tell you more of that later. Today was first day back in the studio and a very productive day it has been. All creatures now drying  and will go in the kiln in a week or so's time. I'm afraid at this point its a waiting game whilst processes have to be followed. I shall show you inspirational bits and bobs items found at a textile fair so dont go away or you might miss something you like...

dark, misty rain and nearly bed time but...

I thought I'd share with you all another of my creatures. Little weasel also shares a likeness with larger stoat still wrapped warm because its very cold out. Scraps of cashmere become stoles and shrugs stitched in red to repair holes acquired whilst scrambling through hedges.Fastened with buttons and badges attached stoat lives life in the quiet corners if we watch carefully we may catch a glimpse as he scurries out of sight on his nocturnal journey through the wood........

grey clouds and black crows.................

are flying over the cold chilly sky. I am about to go with Lola for an afternoon stroll over Bunny Hill. Shall I wear one scarf or two the wind has dropped but the air is cold and the odd flake of snow lands on the nodding snowdrops. Life has been busy with deadlines to meet. A photo shoot to enjoy, produced some amazing images. I thought since being so neglectful I would share a couple with you in the hope that you stay awhile and follow our journey. The exhibition has a title and publicity will be going out shortly, meantime a brief rest to  recuperate. Time to allow my imagination to fly and soar before creating more characters and wondering who will appear....

down in the summer house............

It is a beautiful sunny Spring afternoon and after a spot of gardening I thought what could be nicer than to take some new photographs for you. I realised I hadn't written anything for a while and you must be wondering where I had disappeared too! I have been sewing sewing sewing! I have a photo shoot booked for next week and wanted plenty creatures finished to photograph. Today the deer jumped up to be photographed out in the late afternoon sunshine. They are quite a pair and now sport rather handsome antlers so are justifiably proud of their new status amongst the rest of the creatures. I hope you enjoy my attempts to show them off to you....
